Mayor and Council are pleased to announce that the GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) Water Filtration System is officially online and fully operational. We extend our gratitude to Michael Ostrom and his outstanding operating team, as well as to KEI Engineers, for their dedication and expertise in bringing this project to fruition.
Mr. Ostrom has confirmed that the plant started up without any issues and is now actively removing contaminants from the potable water source.
Additionally, the Mayor and Council would like to offer a special thank you to Rod Gandy for his significant contributions in assisting with the implementation of valves and other essential components that made this achievement possible.
Please note that the next PFNA (Perfluorononanoic Acid) sampling is scheduled for April, and the results will be made publicly available. The Water Department also wishes to remind residents that letters regarding non-compliance will continue to be distributed until two consecutive quarterly tests meet the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) standards.
While the filtration system is fully operational, it will take some time for the entire water distribution system to clear itself of any residual PFNA, PFOS (Perfluorooctane sulfonate), and PFOAs (Perfluorooctanoic acid). We appreciate your patience as we work toward ensuring the safety and quality of our water supply.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Brooklawn Water Department
